Equestrian Media Agency Founder & Equine Sports Scientist
Raised in an equestrian family, Eliza grew up competing in eventing, a shy but driven athlete who found confidence in the saddle. Her ambition carried her overseas to study Equine Sports Science at Hartpury University in the UK, one of the world’s leading equestrian institutions. Initially, the degree backed up the plan for an elite competition career. But exposure to the sport from a broader perspective began to shift her thinking.
While studying, Eliza completed a dissertation exploring the potential use of algorithmic machine learning in show jumping, successfully building a model that could predict Olympic results with over 80% accuracy. The project demonstrated the power of data within the sport, and sparked a broader interest in how information and media shape equestrian performance and investment.
When COVID redirected her back to Australia, she began working within state sporting structures and quickly identified a major gap. Equestrian sport lacked consolidated data, strong media positioning and the type of storytelling that attracts major investment. Compared to other nations, Eliza identified that Australia’s media presence had an opportunity to grow.
Rather than returning to professional riding, Eliza pivoted.
After working within sport administration and media, she co-founded Click Capture with the goal of strengthening event profiles, athlete brands and the sport’s commercial appeal. What began as photography evolved into a broader strategy platform focused on elevating the visibility of equestrian sport and building meaningful relationships.
The impact has been tangible. A recent success of Click Capture has been helping to secure a naming rights sponsor for one of Australia’s leading events, with the sponsor directly crediting the value proposition offered by media as the deciding factor.
Eliza is candid about the challenges. Innovation is often met with hesitancy, and traditional structures can be slow to adapt. But she believes there are so many wonderful stories of Australian Athletes still to be shared.
Her advice to athletes is rooted in lived experience. After breaking her neck at 18, she understands how quickly plans can shift. Diversification is essential. Whether through education, media skills or community involvement, athletes will be at an advantage to upskill themselves and develop a strong and diversified personal brand.
Looking ahead, her focus is on maximising the ripple effect of major championships. Global events generate spikes in interest. The real challenge is converting that attention into sustained participation and engagement within the sport.
At the heart of her work is a simple motivation. The horses. Eliza believes equestrian media carries an immense responsibility to protect the social licence and portray the sport in a way that reflects its values. She is completely committed to ethical storytelling that serves the riders, the community and the long-term future of the industry.
For Eliza Harvey, shaping the future of equestrian sport does not start in the arena. It starts with strategy, integrity and an immense love of the horse.
