Like so many people drawn to the horse industry, Yvette Montgomery always knew she wanted to build a career around horses. What she didn’t know at the time was that her background in marketing, combined with a sharp eye for industry gaps, would lead her to create one of the most valuable tools now supporting equestrians across Australia and New Zealand.
Yvette began her professional career in real estate marketing on the Central Coast of New South Wales, before moving into sales and marketing roles within the equine nutrition and supplements sector. It was here that she saw the inner workings of horse businesses from the inside, and began to notice a recurring challenge.
At Equitana in 2018, that challenge became impossible to ignore. Talented equine businesses, many offering exceptional services, were struggling to be found online. Horse owners, meanwhile, were spending countless hours searching for reliable professionals, often relying on word of mouth or outdated listings.
That was the moment the idea for EquiDirectory was born.
“What if there was a platform like realestate.com.au,” Yvette recalls, “but built specifically for the horse world?”
In 2019, EquiDirectory officially launched with a clear and simple goal: to connect horse owners with the equine businesses, services, and products they need, while giving every horse business the opportunity to be seen, regardless of size or budget.

Most recently, Yvette has added another chapter to her journey with the launch of her new book, Nailing Life the Stable Mares Way. The book is a raw, relatable guide for horsewomen seeking balance, confidence, and purpose, without pretending that life is ever perfectly organised. More than just a book, it represents a growing movement aimed at helping women feel grounded, inspired, and empowered in life, business, and the saddle.
